Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Controlling a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have encountered numerous engaging independent titles. Yet, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is truly a dung trying to make its way to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: just use a one button to leap. Throughout 150 stages, battle tough enemies and access a store to buy skins for your dung hero.

Plan your actions carefully, since one mistake requires beginning again. Jump using air pockets to hurl the poop higher, cross fragile surfaces, and interact with triggers to unlock hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on more difficult levels where things gets crazy.

Graphically, the experience shows off eye-catching level designs and a killer soundtrack. Its minimalist graphics featuring shifting basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although tough to name previous releases where you are a dung character, gaming often included scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from protagonist excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as plant food. And of course, fecal references appears a lot in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, like taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is available at present on Steam, with the complete version set to debut on computers in the fall.
