Former National Football League Player Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Response in Attempted Murder Case

Ex- National Football League star Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to face an murder attempt allegation stemming from a shooting that took place in May, with his attorney entering a not guilty response on his behalf.

Detention records in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his relocation to the state of Florida. Brown, among the most famous figures in the National Football League, had waived transfer to Florida from New Jersey, where he was taken after being apprehended in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an email that he has previously lodged a formal not guilty declaration to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as soon as Wednesday morning for a release hearing, Eiglarsh added.

As per his detention order, Brown is charged of grabbing a firearm from a security staffer after a public figure boxing contest in May and shooting two bullets at a man he had fought with earlier. The alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed police that a bullet scraped his neck.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was merely defending himself from Nantambu.

“The measures he was compelled to take were purely in self-defense against the reported individual’s violent actions. Brown was attacked that night and behaved within his rightful right to defend himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not immediately apprehended because originally officers did not recognize Nantambu as a victim. It not until afterward in May that Nantambu provided a complete statement about the event to authorities and named Brown as the shooter, the document says.

From his social media content, Brown had been staying in Dubai for a number of months. In a message after the incident, Brown stated he was safeguarding himself because he was “attacked by numerous individuals who sought to steal my valuables and bring personal harm to me.”

A level two murder attempt charge in Florida imposes a maximum 15-year jail term and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the instance of a finding.

Brown has faced multiple legal problems over the years. He before had been accused of battery of a vehicle operator, several family violence allegations, failure to pay child support and additional occurrences.

During a recent contest with his team against the New York Jets, Brown removed his jersey, protective gear and accessories and ran off the field, leading to his dismissal by the Buccaneers and effectively concluding his professional journey.

Brown, who had 12 years in the National Football League, was an top-tier receiver who spent the bulk of his tenure with the Steelers. During his professional life, Brown had over 900 catches for above 12,291 distance, the 28th highest of history. He was a 7-time prestigious selection.
